Two “young” elderly men – one Jewish, one African American – meet regularly on a Central Park bench in New York and develop a unique relationship that is equal parts affection and rivalry.
Though both are over 80, they stand up to muggers and drug dealers, and – through constant banter – wage a stubborn battle against authorities trying to put them out to pasture and against a daughter urging her father into the old folks’ home. Drawing on every resource at their disposal, the two struggle to survive in a society that sees them as expendable, and to preserve their sense of self-worth – without which life wouldn’t be worth living. Funny and touching.
